A circular walk starting at the top of Fóia at 902 metres: we will walk along the track from the top in a westerly direction, and then descend to the right towards the Barbelote Waterfall. We will use walking trails that will allow us to see some iconic species of indigenous flora and protected bird species. At the foot of the waterfall at an altitude of some 573 metres, the air has a tropical feel; it’s a place that is protected from the wind, extremely damp, with exuberant, unusual vegetation. We will return in the direction of the abandoned village of Barbelote. Some parts of the walk are steep with gravel (loose stones) underfoot; for reasons of safety, our monitors will erect a rope handrail to support participants.
Time: 5-6 hours
